It’s Not Just About Looks, Or So We Think…
It’s Not Just About Looks, Or So We Think…
Montreal, August 17, 2009 — Does business go hand in hand with style? It is the case in Québec, it seems. Ninety -two per cent of Quebecers (99 per cent of women and 86 per cent of men), agree that clothing can have considerable influence at the office. A recent survey conducted by Léger Marketing for Les Effrontés, the largest style agency in Montreal, revealed that clothing can play an important role in a business setting. In fact, 65 per cent of Quebecers judge the person with whom they are speaking based on their appearance during professional meetings. It is no surprise that all (100 per cent) human resource specialists surveyed agree that how one looks can have a considerable impact in the workplace.

“Business people, in particular, must pay special attention to their personal presentation,” says Marie-Claude Pelletier, President of Les Effrontés. “The first impression is crucial, and clothing plays a major role. New clothing can boost our confidence and make all the difference.”

In fact, the survey revealed that 60 per cent of Quebecers admit feeling more comfortable when they wear clothing that suits them. While more than half (57 per cent) say they feel more confident, 42 per cent of women feel more dynamic in clothing that makes them stand out.

Les Effrontés blows out its 10th candle!
Is Marie-Claude Pelletier audacious/effrontée? She had to be to position herself as a pioneer in the personal fashion stylist industry and to create Les Effrontés in 1999 — the only stylist agency in Montreal at that time. The agency aims to democratise fashion by providing accessible stylist services to individuals who wish to have a wardrobe adapted to their lifestyle, their body type and their personality.

Les Effrontés, which revolutionized the personal fashion stylist industry in Quebec, now has a dozen experienced stylists and two private salons, one in Outremont (Laurier West) and the other in the heart of Montreal (Ste-Catherine St. & Metcalfe). These experienced stylists offer personal services, conferences, corporate workshops and training designed to develop tomorrow’s professional stylists.

In 1999, TV shows such as "What not to wear " and “Métamorphose" were not broadcasted and people generally believed that it was an exclusive service for the wealthy and a large budget was necessary. The industry has now become more mainstream and things have changed. In fact, almost a quarter of professionals in Quebec (23 per cent) today feel they could rely on the services of stylists.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the agency is launching exciting new projects. Les Effrontés is partnering with the stylish Hôtel Le Germain to offer guests audacious and personalized fashion packages. As well, Les Effrontés will be touring downtown Montreal in various office buildings offering people free personalized advice in exchange for mildly used business appropriate clothing that will be donated to the organization Fringues.

Les Effrontés gives back
Marie-Claude Pelletier puts her knowledge to good use for the benefit of individuals in need through her collaboration with return-to-work organizations. The agency is involved with the community by organizing a number of stylise conferences where all profits and business appropriate clothing are donated to the organization Fringues, which helps women return to the workforce.

Marie-Claude’s social involvement doesn’t stop there! Les Effrontés also offers conferences and workshops to Fringues program participants to help them choose the best clothing for their interview and business wardrobes.
